Let’s be optimistic and assume you chose correctly, and your bones are still neatly underneath your skin.
You unlock your shackles, and are immediately blocked by a squad of heart-tipped spears as you reach for the exit door.
As in many toxic workplaces, your former coworkers are all quite sadistic. “Where do you think you’re going? Her Majesty isn’t done with you yet,” sneers one of the guards.
In the original story the queen read, the prisoner underwent several more trials. However, the queen is impatient and will spare you some of this emotional torture. You are taken to a different corridor with two rooms, but no signs.
“What?? How am I supposed to choose?” you exclaim. The Knight rolls his eyes and throws two paper signs at you.
SIGN 1: “THIS ROOM CONTAINS A TIGER”
SIGN 2: “BOTH ROOMS CONTAIN TIGERS”
“This is just lazy and incompetent. Which doors are these for?” you ask, more irritated than scared.
The Knight has evidently forgotten, and is now visibly struggling. “Figure it out, peasant… oh- wait- if the keys are in the lefthand room, then the sign on that door is true and a tiger in it means the sign should be false… and that the reverse is true for the righthand room.”
Did he just make that up? Who knows. Choose wisely.
